Island indulgence: A summer getaway at Hermana Menor

With Boracay temporarily closing for rehabilitation, people have to look for another place to go to this summer. Fear not, here’s my recommendation: Hermana Menor Island in Santa Cruz, Zambales which boasts of its ivory sand, and crystal waters.

Playing games on Independence Day: a ‘Puzzles’ review

Another long weekend had come and gone. Sadly, I had to spend it in the city so that I could arrange my stuffs here in my new crib. Nevertheless, I did not let the three-day break pass without a dine-out with some of my friends at Puzzles, Bonifacio Global City.

From one anniversary to another: setting up the stage for ‘RITM @ 36’

The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) celebrated its 36th anniversary from 17 to 21 April 2017 with the theme “Envisioning Potentials, Strengthening Performance”. The week-long affair was filled with various exciting activities. One of its highlights was the Mr. & Ms. RITM pageant held on 18 April 2017 at the RITM Auditorium. It was such a privilege to be part of the Physical Arrangement committee for that event, and all other happenings for the anniversary week.

Santa Cruz goes Riverdale

Once, I was browsing through my Facebook news feed and chanced upon a photo of a popular convenience store at night. The image had striking, surreal tones, ranging from aqua to red violet. Later on, I found out that the shot was inspired by the hit TV series Riverdale [which I have not started to watch yet]. Encouraged by the picture, I decided to try recreating it in my hometown, Santa Cruz, Zambales.

A ‘Prusisyon ng Santo Bangkay’ and its starrers

During Good Friday, Filipino Catholics hold the procession of Christ’s remains in an ornate casket, together with key personalities present during His Passion. For years, I have wondered who many of them where, and why they were included in this Lenten ritual. I did some research to answer my own inquiries, and here are my discoveries, coupled with some of my Catholic knowledge.

Consuming all of my creative juices with “NTRL at 15”

The National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory (NTRL), the department I work under, celebrates the anniversary of its inauguration once every five years; and this year, it has remained standing strong for a decade and half. As it rejoices for its 15th birthday, NTRL has assigned the unit I belong to, the Laboratory Services Unit (LSU), to organize the programme (together with the Program Support and Quality Management or PSQM Unit) and to physically arrange the venue. The party was held at four in the afternoon on 22 March 2017 inside the NTRL Courtyard.
